My own little theory of third world economics.

Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic EconomicsSo, I’ll start by admitting that I’m no expert when it comes to economics. In fact the only formal economics training I’ve had were one or two rather poorly taught undergraduate courses at Cornfield University in Nowhere Indiana that left me thinking economists (John Maynard Keynes in particular) were completely full of crap. Then, years later a friend of mine introduced me to Henry Hazlitt’s awesome little book
Economics in One Lesson which, to my surprise and delight, gave the same answers to some of the garbage put forth in my undergraduate economics class that I gave. I’ve since read a little Ludwig von Mises, Milton Friedman and Adam Smith and I’ve found that economics is actually very interesting.

Abdul Rahman now likely to be freed!

Abdul Rahman, the Afghan who was expected to be sentenced to death for converting to Christianity is now expected to be set free. When asked if he will leave Afghanistan he said, “Perhaps, but if I flee again that would mean my country hasn’t changed. It would mean that they have won, our enemies. Without respect for human rights, without respect for all religions, the Taliban has won.”

I like this guy!

So just how peaceful is Islam?

An Afghan court may sentence Abdul Rahman to death for converting from Islam to Christianity.

Afghanistan’s constitution is based on Shariah law, which requires that any Muslim who converts to another religion must be sentenced to death. Afghanistan’s President, Hamid Karzai once again finds himself between a rock an a hard place on this one. 99% of his people are Muslim and listen to the clerics who are calling for this guy’s death and yet many western countries are putting pressure on him to show leniency to Mr. Rahman.

404 Header Fix for WordPress Google SiteMaps

If you use WordPress with a Google SiteMap Plugin and you tried to verify the ownership of your blog with Google, you’ve probably seen the error, “We’ve detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (OK) in the header.”
